This ceramic shaving mug receives high praise for its quality construction and functionality. Large enough for Stirling’s refill shave pucks

I made my choices several months ago regarding the Stirling shave and bath soaps. I started by researching the multitude choices of their scent’s reviews and pricing.I have settled on three of my favorite Stirling products those of Stirling Barbershop-Haverford-Bergamot and Lavender. These soaps have slickness and staying power while shaving and are easy to load onto a brush. I am not in favor of plastic tubs that are filled to the top with soaps as they tend to allow spill-over while lathering my choice..The apothecary style soap mugs work for me and identify immediately which brand I am using!
I found some silicone mug covers used for keeping coffee warm from Amazon that work well to keep the soaps ready for the next use.Barbershop being my favorite scent and the other two mentioned will always have a home in my shave cabinets.

Builds up a respectable leather with my soaps and is ready to hold with wet hands. Another awesome product from Stirling-great job guys!

New to me

I have been using Stirling tubs of shave soap for a little over a year now. I have not used Stirling soap in puck form yet. The puck of Barbershop fit perfectly into the bowl. It is in my rotation to try this week!

Quality shaving bowl

The bowl is great but I wish it was designed such that it fit the size of the stirling shaving pucks. Other than that it is a nice sturdy shaving bowl.

Solid well made bowl, I love the color also, the apothecary style bowls are the best if you just want a good shave as in they direct the lather into your brush, couldn't be happier would buy again

Fantastic shaving mug

Fantastic shaving much. The samplers fit perfectly in this mug! If you’re looking to get into wet shaving I would recommend this over a bowl. The handle gives it really good grip.

Perfect Mug

Beautiful traditional shave mug. It is the perfect size for the Stirling sample and refill pucks. There are larger apothecary mugs out there, but most shave soap pucks are not that large

Meets my expectations!

This mug replaces a bulkier, double walled bowl I previously had from another brand. The mug is much more ergonomic to hold and I appreciate being able to throw a refill puck right in.

perfect

This is the perfect shave mug. Size and ergonomics are just right for a good sturdy hold with wet hands and the mouth is wide enough to whip up a good lather without beating it to death with a brush handle. It's all around just a good high quality mug and it has the Stirling logo on it, what more could a man ask for!

Excellent mug in looks and in function

I really love how this mug looks on my sink top and I especially like how the lathering is created in it. The Stirling Soap logo looks great too and the Stirling Soap customer service, as always, is top notch.

Great Mug for Any Soap!

Awesome form and function! The lather rings added to the bottom of this mug are appreciated as I haven't seen many others using the same style. If you mold a hard soap to the bottom, it gives it a little extra bite to hold in place. For softer creams and croaps, the rings help whip up a perfect lather very quickly. This seems well-made and it's larger than most mugs I've used in the past. Exactly what I was hoping for, thank you!

Just get it, you'll be happy you did. Cry once, buy once

I was on the fence but this is so much better than the plastic dog bowl. They pack it so well. I sent a video of a new mail guy yeeting it over my fence. Just a better quality and design.

Handsome Shaving Mug

This is a well-designed, sturdy shaving mug. The bottom ridges are a nice size--aggressive enough to quickly build a lather, but not so extreme that they interfere with getting that initial paste mixed well. Money well spent.

The is a super nice shave mug with very wide mouth, Very little, if any, clanging with your shaved brush. Plus it looks great next to the your bathroom sink. I love it..

Perfect for shave soap prep

I have tried a few different ways to lather up. First load up the brush and then use a bowl to lather. Then face. Then I tried lathering up directly in the tin I bought from Stirling a bit ago. None of them were good enough for me, then I saw this mug and I tried it last week and it's perfect! The soap sits in there just fine, you have to mold it a bit but no biggie, and then the lather that forms is legit. Very happy.

High quality shave mug. Looks great, easy to hold with slippery hands and has groves in the bottom to make easier lather especially when using hard soaps.

Overall a nice bowl

I've been using this lather bowl for a few months now. Overall I like it. But there are a few design flaws. As others have stated it is a tad bit on the small size. Another ½ inch of diameter would be perfect. With the diameter being just a little on the small side, I'm banging the sides of the bowl quite often. I prefer apothecary bowls. So the other thing I don't like is my thumb will not fit between the bowl and the stem. With my other apothecary bowls my thumb fits in the groove and feels locked in. I can't get that feeling with this bowl. But I love the look of the bowl. The grooves in the bottom definitely help generate lather. Just wish it was little bigger and stem a little different so my thumb would lock in.

Classic but a bit too small

I love the concept of an old-fashioned ceramic apothecary mug and I got this one to replace a generations-old Abercrombie and Fitch behemoth that broke. Ceramic mugs hold the heat and cannot be beat, IMO.

This one has the classic look and style, but should be 50 percent larger, to give enough room to build a lather. The size is too small and as another reviewer noted, a bit noisy when attempting to lather. Putting aside my large hands, there is not enough wind-up space to get lather going and not enough space to put it when you do.

Nice in concept and I use it once in a while vs. a faster shave in the shower.
A larger size would be a welcome addition!

Quality, good looking mug.

I tend to face lather most of the time, but like to have a bowl or mug to use to build a lather from time to time. This is a good looking mug, and it stays on my vanity top. I use it every time I shave to soak my brush while I shower. Thanks to a gift of some Stirling products from my son, I'm now a big fan.

Not for me

Loved the look of the mug, but it was too small for me to use 1) comfortably and 2) without lots of loud clattering.

Having also purchased the less aesthetically pleasing but infinitely more functional collapsible bowl, I recommend the bowl.

The mug looks great, but it just isn’t great for people who want to build a lather.

Great!

Just like everything else I have received from Stirling, this shave mug is perfect! Good size too, on the larger side!

Awesome shave mug

I just received this mug today and it was worth the wait to get this outstanding shave mug. The listed sizes are correct and I love the 4.25" interior top opening. Larger than most mugs and gives you plenty of room for using wider brush handles. As pictured, the bottom has the ridges for creating a rich lather. I immediately placed a Haverford sample puck in the bottom. The soap pressed in with very little effort, the bottom of the mug was a perfect fit. Note, do not microwave Stirling soaps to get it to fit into a mug. They are not glycerin based and microwaving will fry the soap. The soap is soft enough to press it place. The bottom is the perfect size as I am able to grip the bottom comfortably. A handsome piece for anyone's shave den.
